Emily Pickard

Emily has recently gained her PhD from the University of Glasgow. Her thesis examined gender, motherhood, and labour in Willa Muir’s published and unpublished writings – themes that reflect her own feminist reading interests and that her post-PhD publications continue to delve into. Emily has always loved books, and proudly declared at the age of six that she would one day be a writer. It later transpired that this statement made her mother quietly fear that Emily would grow old in her basement. Instead, Emily moved from the Great White North to Scotland in 2016 to pursue her dream and find ways to help others fulfil theirs. She is thrilled to be kicking off her publishing career at Linen Press. She lives, writes, and reads in a flat surrounded by cow fields in Stirling with her beagle and her partner.
