The Whole Kahani

The Whole Kahani (The Complete Story) is a collective of British fiction writers of south Asian origin. The group was formed in 2011 to provide a rich creative perspective that straddles cultures and boundaries. Its aim is to give a fresh voice to British Asian fiction and increase the visibility of South Asian writers in Britain. The Whole Kahani includes fiction writers, poets and screen-writers, many with an array of awards. The collective has published three anthologies: Love Across A Broken Map, May We Borrow Your Country and Tongues & Bellies, the latter two with Linen Press. Reviewers of the books have said: ‘A thoroughly modern and lively collection which reaches out across multiple histories and distinctive worlds’ and ‘These individual authors have given the reader a dazzling, multihued work as stylistically diverse as it is thematically united.’

Mission Statement

Founded in 2005, Linen Press is the only UK-wide feminist independent publisher.
At a time when female autonomy and rights are under threat, our books are important for the recognition and empowerment of the female experience.
We rejoice in the strength and originality of female and non-binary creative voices and champion those who are underrepresented and marginalised.
The collective background of our writers is a patchwork of cultures, countries, ages and writing styles as we share stories that speak to women across barriers and boundaries.
